Zero Comma, Colorful World (2010)

A post-rock influenced shoegaze trio from Japan. Known for their guitar driven songs and melodic pop vocals. As I have heard, they put on one hell of a live show.

Single + Remix Collections (2012)

Singles, an EP, and even some remixes. I'm beginning to wonder why this was only released in Japan, since owning this would actually be really nice.

The Lonesome Crowded West (1997)

Definitely the best album that these guys have ever released. All of the songs are presented in a very simple yet also complex way through the way that Brock sings, and the backup that he gets from the rest of the band. Easily one of the best albums to come out of the 90's.

I'm drowning upside down, my feet afloat like Christ's.

Houkago Tea Time II (2010)

The full length double album from the ever-so-popular KyoAni title. Certainly where you would start if you ever wanted to with this group of ladies, since it has basically everything you would want, save for the opening and ending songs.

わたしの ぴゅあぴゅあはーと▽

Analphabetapolothology (1998)

(Most) every song recorded and released by the band.

Shinsekai (2010)

The final album from the four-part Japanese jazz-punk band.

Altar (2006)

A collaboration album between the masters of loud. Unfortunately doesn't contain any of the bonus tracks, which does shorten the album down by quite a bit. Maybe if I do find it I'll reupload that sometime.

In silence I stand alone.

Hurtbreak Wonderland (2007)

This is one of the more interesting albums I've heard lately, and it seems to have been made for a relatively small set of people.  If you're a fan of modern classical and post-rock, as well as the lighter end of breakcore, you're in for a treat.  Otherwise, it's still worth a try.

This Is What Happens (2010)

Some absolutely excellent jazz rock from a band that's started out great rather than gradually making their way there.  I hope that their next album is as good as this, because this is some incredible material.

There's a bridge just up ahead now.

As a first for the blog, we are including a bonus album with this: the 8-bit version, This Is Also What Happens.  It is, sadly, not available in FLAC, so we can't dedicate a proper post to it.

The weight of love is more than all the world.

Music from the Unrealized Film Script: Dusk at Cubist Castle (1996)

The first release from them, featuring contributions from the Elephant 6 gang. Three years in the making, it certainly doesn't disappoint.

And we both know this world can make no sense, when you jumped everybody's fence.

Happy Bivouac (1999)

the pillows is a Japanese alternative rock band best known for their contributions to the eargasm known as the FLCL soundtrack.  If you are not already familiar with that series, remedy that.  If you are, there is a very good chance that you will enjoy this if you enjoyed the music, mostly because a large chunk of it is in here.

Beautiful morning with you
